Glenallachie    the glen of the rocky place

This rather young distillery was built in 1967 on the foot of Ben Rinnes (840 m) where the production water comes from springs and the processing water from the pond by the Lour Burn. It was build by William Delmé Evans, see also Tullibardine and Jura Distilleries. The annual production is now at about 4.200.000 litres of alcohol.

The Glenallachie whisky is very rare on the market. Douglais Laing bottled in the McGibbons Provenence series a nine year old Single Malt in 2010. There are also cask bottlings available at The Glenlivet shop.

There has been also a green line at the distillery sine 2007: “The new effluent treatment system at Glenallachie has a small footprint coupled with reduced sludge yield versus the old technology and a low environmental impact. The main process plant is installed inside an existing building at the distillery with two modular bioreactors located outside this building.“ See
