Inchgower

The distillery near Buckie was built in 1871 and replaced Tochineal Distillery which was established in 1824. Alexander Wilson who was the the founder of the latter had to move to the present site when his landlord doubled the lease and the old buildings became outdated.

Inch means „island“, „meadow by the river“ or „field“

In 1938 the distillery was bought by Alexander Bell & Sons Ltd. The annual capacity is about 3.2 mio. litres of pure alcohol (2014). The distillery was upgraded extensively in 2012. Most of its production goes into Bell‘s blended whisky.

No admittance. The distillery is not open to the public.
